God Hasn't Brought You This Far So You Can Quit Now
You know, it's so easy to get your eyes on people and on problems and on all the negative things that happen in our lives and if you're not careful, all of that negativity will get the best of you. You'll find yourself beating yourself up, telling yourself I can't make it, I don't have what it takes. One person will look at you the wrong way, one person will say something that hurts your feelings on Facebook, and then boom, you're ready to shut down, quit, throw in the towel, but here's what I want to encourage you with today, friends, and that is God has brought you to this point where you are not so that you can quit, right? He has brought you where you are because he has great things in store for you.
Too often we quit or we're tempted to quit just seconds, minutes, days, hours, before the blessings begin to flow and before the doors begin to open and before the mountains are torn down. Don't quit. God has not brought you where you are so that you can stop right now. You need to do your best. I know you hear me say this over and over again if you watch my videos or you listen to my podcast, if you read my blogs or articles, I want for you that you will plug your ears, take your fingers, plug both ears to the voices of negative people in your life. Plug your ears to the critics in your life. Plug your ears to that person in your family that just takes jab after jab after jab. Plug your ears to the voices inside your head that say you can't do it, you're never going to be good enough, your boss doesn't believe in you, that church doesn't believe in you, if you try it you will fail. Shut those voices out and instead pursue what is on your heart with all of your heart.
Stay close to the Lord. Stay in His book. Surround yourself with the right people. When you pursue God wholeheartedly and when you pursue the dreams and passions that God puts in your life, I'm going to tell you what, nothing can get in the way and those negative voices should not stop you. The negative people, the negative thoughts, should not stop you. Don't quit. Now I'm the first to acknowledge that it's easy to lose heart. It is. It's easy to lose heart in a relationship, it's easy to lose heart in your Monday through Friday. It's easy to lose heart in your ministry. It's easy to lose heart with your kids. It's easy to lose heart in politics and the leaders in our lives. It's easy to lose heart with the church.
But this is exactly why you need to do what Jesus said. He said to pray so that you don't lose heart. You see, Jesus acknowledged that it is possible to lose heart. It is possible to want to throw in the towel, to call it quits, and to walk away but He wants you to pray and let me tell you why this is so important because you need to be connected to Him. You need to be listening to His voice and not the voices of everyone around you.
We give other people way too much attention in our life. We do. We let the opinions of others carry way too much weight. You know, other people's opinion of you is none of your business, right? Who cares what they think? I know who I am and instead of listening to my feelings, instead of listening to the negativity around me, I am going to choose everyday to listen to the truth.
There's my word for you today. I believe some of you need to hear this. This is the frog you need to eat right now. Mark Twain said if you eat a live frog first thing in the morning, nothing worse is going to happen to you the rest of the day. In other words, you need to do your most difficult thing right now so that everything else the rest of your day goes easier and here's what I want you to do right now, I want you to choose ... You might need to write it down, you might need to text yourself, you might need to email yourself, you might need to email your spouse, your accountability partner, your pastor, your boss, your kids, and say despite what anybody says I'm not going to quit. I'm not going to quit because God has brought me too far already. Don't quit, friends. God has great things in store for you, I believe it and I see it in your life.
