Don't Fall Into the Comparison Trap
You know it's pretty easy to get caught up in what's going on at the church next door, what's going on at the shop next door, the business next door, what's going on with my friends on Facebook, and where did they go on vacation, and where am I going on vacation? We just fall into this comparison trap so easily, but listen, that's exactly what comparison is. Comparison is nothing more than a trap. I am deeply, deeply committed to trying to help you stay out of that trap.
Thank you so much for watching my videos, for listening to my podcast, for reading my blogs and articles, for letting us help you week after week. Whether you're a pastor, whether you're a business leader, a teacher, a student, we've got all kinds of folks that listen to my training. Thank you so much.
Please, please, please don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to other people. Don't fall into the trap of comparing your ministry with someone else's ministry. Instead, be so passionate and busy where you are that you don't even have time to notice that the grass is greener on the other side, because you are just so pumped about what God is doing in your life, in your family, in your ministry. God has given you a lane. I call it staying in your lane. God has given you a lane. He wants you to stay in it, to stay focused because He has things for you that only you can do.
I am amazed at how many people never reach their full potential, they never reach their destiny, their ministry never reaches the people it could reach because they are constantly comparing themselves with each other. How many students live in defeat, how many moms and dads feel like failures, how many bosses think that they don't know what it takes to lead because they are comparing themselves with each other? There is one voice you need to be listening to. It's the voice of truth.
Let me speak some truth into your life right now, and that is that God has wired you uniquely. He has created you to do amazing things that no one else can do, so embrace that. Live in that reality. Lean in on the Holy Spirit of God in your life, stay in prayer, stay in His book and God will bless you for it. The people around you will be thankful, the ones closest to you will be thankful, and you will find so much more fulfillment in your life. That's my word for you today, friend, be so busy and so passionate that you don't even have time to notice that the grass is greener somewhere else.
