Take Care of Yourself Today!

Let me ask you something; how well are you doing personally? How well are you doing taking care of yourself? I read a quote recently on Facebook. I'm going to butcher this quote, but it went something like this. If you don't take care of your wellness today, your health today, you'll be forced to take care of your illness later. I thought a lot about that because I'm having problems with one of my teeth in the back. What I would like to do is just ignore it and do anything I can to avoid being in the dentist chair. But I know I don't deal with this now, I'm going to be forced to deal with it later.

Now, think about your life as a leader, as a pastor, as a ministry leader, whatever you do day after day, as you serve your family, as you serve your church. How well are you doing taking care of yourself? It's easy to think about your spouse, your kids, your coworkers, your employees, and the people in your church and how you're doing serving them. However, how are you doing taking care of yourself? If you don't take care of yourself, no one else will. At the end of the day, it's your job to take care of yourself today, so you're not forced to take care of illnesses and problems later.

Be proactive. Take a good look at your life. I know you might have to just pause and do this because we get so busy, but really pause and reflect. How well are you doing? How are you doing physically? You might be taking care of your body, of your temple. How well are you doing emotionally? Are you getting the rest that you need? How well are you doing spiritually? How is your walk with the Lord? Does that personal walk with the Lord exist? Is it strong? Is it weak?

Here's what I want for you. I do not want you to be a public success and private failure. I want you to be a public success and private success. I want your walk with the Lord and your health to be where it needs to be. So there's your challenge today. Take a good look at yourself. Analyze yourself spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Are you taking care of yourself? If you're not, what kind of adjustments do you need to make in your life so that you can give your personal health the attention it needs?
