Let Your Joy Radiate!
Every week those kids in your ministry, they come excited; they bring energy. Do you match their energy? Now, I know you may not be able to match the energy of a four year old, a five year old, and a sixth grade boy. But you know what, as a kidmin leader, you need to have energy. Listen, people are attracted to energetic leaders. Now I understand and I'm empathetic to those of you that are a little more passive or a little more introverted or a little more shy, but you know what? You can still have a big smile on your face. You can still ask those kids, “how are you doing? How was your week?” You can still give big hugs.
Listen, kids need to know that you are excited about seeing them, you're excited about the church, and you're excited about that good book that you're holding in your hands. What does your energy level, what does your countenance communicate every week in your ministry? (This isn't just good for Sundays.) Listen, this is good for when you show up to meetings. If you work in a secular occupation, when you show up to work, are you excited? Are you full of energy? When you stand in front of that group, when you stand in front of that class, when you make that phone call, when you meet with that new client, do you have energy? Are you smiling? Is the joy of the Lord radiating in your life? We have a blessed hope of the Gospel. We know the Savior. Heaven is our home, and the joy of the Lord that's within us should radiate through our lives. So my prayer for you today is that the joy of the Lord will be your strength, and because of that joy, the Lord is in your life, and joy will radiate and strengthen those around you.
