God is Always with You

You know, the need to be encouraged is something that we all feel, whether you're a pastor or a ministry leader or whatever you do. We live in a world that has so much negativity. We live in a world where there's so much evil and hard stuff going on and then we deal with our own anxieties and fears and the enemy tries to get us discouraged.

Let me remind you of a simple truth that really isn't so simple, it's pretty amazing: God is with you. God is with you. I love the book of I John. John I, II, and III are great books. If it's been a while since you've read them, you need to read them; they're just so encouraging. In I John 4, the apostle John says that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. He starts I John 4:4 by addressing the church as little children. Listen, greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. And don't forget that you are one of God's children. When God views you, he doesn't necessarily see you as a 56 year-old man. He views you as just one of his little children and he wants to remind you of something very important: that greater is he that is in you than he that's in the world. Maybe this is a word for you today. If you've been having a hard time, if you've been battling something, if you feel like the enemy has you in a corner, maybe you've been really feeling some financial pressures or maybe you've been feeling some tension at work or there's problems in a relationship and you feel like the whole world is against you.

Remember greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. And if you need that word, maybe what you need to do is just write I John 4 on a Post-it Note and put it in your car, put it on your refrigerator, put it on your bathroom vanity, put it by your computer screen where you're going to see it and be reminded every day that there is someone greater living within you. Isn't that amazing? God gives us grace and mercy; he saves us, and he indwells us. Listen, the enemy and God are not equals. They're not equals. God is so much greater than the enemy. I hope that this encourages you today.
